There are times when we are tired and suffer due to aches and pains. We really long for a relief, don’t we? So, here’s a DIY Pain Relieving Roll On Recipe you can try, to alleviate pain and aches.

Our ancestors never knew what is pain, or at least chronic pain, well into the later part of their lives. Pain was not a daily affair for most, thanks to their healthy and active lifestyle. But today, our lifestyle has undergone a sea of changes, most of which are not for our betterment!

If that’s not enough, genetic modification of foods, use of chemicals for ripening of fruits, chemical for boosting growth or keeping pests at bay, everything has taken a toll in our lives. Pain has become a part of our daily lives, thanks to modernization!

Headache, joint pain, muscular pains, frozen neck or shoulder, hand and elbow pain due to constant use of computers and what not! Want to get rid of pain without side effects?  Try out this all-round pain relieving blend and let us know how it helped.

Ingredients

Wintergreen Oil – 1 part

Eucalyptus Oil – 1 part

Peppermint Essential Oil – 1 part

Camphor Oil – 1 part

Clove Oil – 1 part

Method

Take a thick plastic container or a glass bottle and add all the oils.

Shake gently to mix all the oils, let it sit for a couple of days.

Take a few drops in your palm and run on the affected areas.

If your pain is mild – moderate, or when you want to apply to a larger area, you can dilute this in Coconut Oil, Mustard Oil, V6 blend, Olive Oil, etc.

Wintergreen Oil

 

Though not very popular off late, it is one of the best pain killers you can ever get! Popularly dubbed as nature’s aspirin, wintergreen is chiefly composed of methyl salicylate, the key ingredient in Aspirin. It is useful to treat several painful conditions and widely used for treating headache, nerve related pains, menstrual cramps and arthritis. In short, it is an all-round pain reliever.

Eucalyptus Oil

Known for its anti-inflammatory and analgesic properties, it is widely used to treat muscular and nerve pains, inflammatory conditions including Arthritis and Rheumatism, etc.

Peppermint Essential Oil

Peppermint Essential Oil helps block pain sensation being transmitted to the brain and considered as an effective pain reliever. Besides, it is also a nerve tonic and good to treat nerve related pain. It gives a tingling sensation when applied and added to liniments for their heating effect. It is an anti-inflammatory and also used to treat problems related to the respiratory system like asthma, sinusitis, etc.

Camphor Oil

It is an anesthetic, calms the nerves, antispasmodic, sedative, anti-neuralgic, anti-inflammatory, anti-arthritic and anti-rheumatic. Is there any pain this oil won’t relieve? It relieves sore muscles, painful joints, frozen joints, tired or aching muscles, nerve-related or neuralgia pain, etc.

 

Clove Oil

 

A powerful anti-inflammatory, it is used to treat several inflammation related aches and pains. It is a handy and quick headache reliever, thanks to the analgesic and anti-inflammatory properties. It has many health benefits, though widely used in dental industry for the analgesic properties!

Tweaking the Recipe

You can increase the quantity of Eucalyptus, if you think this blend is strong for you.

Note: All the oils listed above aren’t essential oils, but just concentrated oils except Peppermint. However, you can substitute them with essential oils, but take care to dilute them appropriately.

You can add Lavender Essential Oil, especially if you are using this blend for relief from headache or neck pain, triggered due to tension or stress.

This blend can be used as-is for severe pains and aches, though when the pain is mild – moderate or when you want to apply to a larger area, make sure you dilute it with carrier oils as suggested above. You can also add Alcohol to dilute it, instead of carrier oils. This is particularly useful for those who go to work and can’t apply oily stuff very often.
